Disconnect switches are located at each Pivot tower box, or at the main control panel in the case of general On/Off switches.
They are there to protect a person from injury when working on the system, if someone accidentally energizes the machine or if the Pivot irrigation system automatically restarts after a power outage.
Because of this it is very important not to perform any maintenance procedures until the main control panel disconnect switch is locked in the ‘off’ position.
